LOOK: Typhoon Ompong intensifies in Appari, Cagayan

Various places in Northern Luzon are now experiencing the intensity of Typhoon “Ompong”  in their areas. Earlier today, Facebook user Prince Eljay Rapadas Labasan took it upon herself to show everyone how strong the wind and rain now in Appari, Cagayan with a live video.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Typhoon Ompong is expected to make landfall in the Cagayan-Isabela area between 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. tomorrow, September 15. Moreover, the agency warned the residents that storm surge prone areas of Cagayan and Isabela may expect up to six meters of surge.

Rene Paciente, assistant weather services chief of the PAGASA’s weather division, said:

“Ompong’s winds could uproot many trees and topple electric posts. We urge the public to evacuate to safer grounds and to coordinate with their local government officials.”

According to the latest bulletin of PAGASA, Ompong has maintained its strength, with maximum winds of 205 kph, and gustiness of up to 255 kph.

The typhoon is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Sunday morning.
